dc.description.abstractThe hollow-structured Poly(St/AN/DVB) microspheres were obtained by seeded polymerization and their carbonization followed by heat treatment. In the seeded polymerization process, the amount of toluene in second monomer mixture affects the average diameter of hollow-structured Poly(St/AN/DVB) microspheres. After the carbonization, all the particles maintained the hollow structure and spherical shape of polymer particles. The average diameter of the obtained carbon hollow microspheres decreased than that of before carbonization. The morphologies of the polymer and carbon hollow microspheres were observed using Optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and focused-ion beam SEM (FIB-SEM). Their electrochemical performances as anode for lithium ion battery were characterized by galvanostatic charge/discharge test. The electrochemical results exhibited the outstanding cycle performance and the rate capability. The excellent rate capability is attributed to the hollow structure of carbon microspheres.-
