The natural environment is rapidly changing due to concentration of population and urban development. Thus, the flood discharge is also increasing due to increment of impermeable areas. The increasing flood discharge causes losses of human beings and damage to property.

In this study, the outflow discharge reduction effects on drainage system around apartment areas are analyzed. In special, construction of an drainage retaining facility at apartments at Gosan Bogeumjari Housing Area of Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province. Through the analyses, it is found that the drainage retaining facility could reduce the rainwater outflow discharge and enable the reduction of pipe diameters. It is possible to establish an environment-friendly apartment plan and an economical drainage system.
