The effective removal of sewage sludge is important, due to a lot of generation, environmentally harmful effects and the need to meet stringent statutory regulations. Wet air oxidation was selected as a new method to treat sewage sludge and the parameter effect for sludge treatment was confirmed. Temperature, pressure, air flow rate and reaction time were selected to crucial parameter and evaluated the optimum conditions for sludge removal and acetic acid generation. COD removal was mainly affected by temperature and increased according to increasing temperature. 80% of suspended solid(SS) removal was easily achieved above 200℃, but temperature higher than 240℃ was required for effective acetic acid generation. Pressure and air flow rate had little effect on SS removal, but amount of acetic acid in liquid phase increased according to increasing air flow rate. Therefore, 50 atmospheric pressure and 1.5L/min air flow rate were required for acetic acid generation.en_US
