In this research, RSPA (Resonant S-morph Piezoelectric Actuator) was proposed for vibration actuator applicable to smart devices. RSPA was designed using piezoelectric material for fast response time, low power consumption and wide bandwidth. Main vibration performances were set by comparing a commercial piezoelectric actuator for smart phone considering reduced size. To estimate the main vibration performances, finite element analysis using ANSYS program and theoretical method were used. Through analytical and theoretical results, RSPA will make good vibration performance in spite of subminiature size.
The advantages of RSPA are as follows. First, RSPA was designed to subminiature size to apply to wearable smart devices such as, smart watch and smart band. Second, RSPA vibrates to axial direction of its thickness when voltage is applied to piezoelectric layer. Third, structure of RSPA is simple for manufacturing it if the piezoelectric material can be fabricated by proposed size. If these advantages of RSPA are utilized and studied consistently, it would be good data for recently growing industries manufacturing wearable smart devices
