Motivation of Volunteer Tourism

Abstract

Volunteer tourism is regarded as an alternative tourism in these days. Volunteer tourism, also regarded as voluntourism, originated from western countries in 1970s. It’s a concept of doing volunteer work while traveling abroad. Recently, more and more researchers are starting to investigate volunteer tourism and most of the researches are based on western population culture. However, the developing of volunteer tourism in the tourism industry is growing significantly in eastern countries these days, and researches which are based on eastern population and culture are insufficient. In this research, volunteer tourists from eastern countries were chosen to be the study subjects.
