Abstract
The contact algorithm is essentially needed to simulate the high-speed collision of an APS (Active Protection System). When two bodies collide with each other, the contact forces are delivered to each body. The contact force causes a crack and fracture of bodies and the particles of split body are contacted with each other. This paper proposes an algorithm to represent a contact between the particles and new surfaces. The bodies are modeled with solid4 finite elements. For the contact detecting, a boundary sphere which is surrounding the element is introduced to improve a performance. For find a contact point, the element to element contact formulation is proposed. A dynamics analysis of APS is tested to verify this algorithm.
