- Abstract
- Urbanization makes incense of density of population in Mega cities (PARMAR, 2013). Importantly, areas where high population density zones and concentration of population have been suffering lack of places to be expansion itself (Cohen, 2006). Hence, reclamation projects are now another alternative of expansion of those cities. Many countries have done land reclamation project to expand their cities (Wang et al., 1996). Therefore, land reclamation is one of the key to overcome those problems. In this reason, this study evaluates environmental impact of different water ways in a land reclamation project using hydrodynamic model. Moreover, with different depth, proposed cost impact will be described. This study also categorized environmental functionality and cost effective design for a project. Environmental functionality was analyzed by hydrodynamic model and cost effective design was compared with different options of alternative design proposals. The environmental impact assessment was shown that different depth is critical for its natural environment and future environment. The result showed flushing impact of the different channel depth and comparison. Moreover, the costal impact analysis shows the cost is drastically decreased from - 4 m MSL to – 6m MSL of channel depth while – 6m MSL was the optimal value. The study result was shown that the comparison of environmental and cost impact has positive significance in -4 m MSL option, -6 m MSL option and -8 m MSL option. However, the result shown that the environmental impact will be optimal in -6 m option as well as cost impact.
