‘앎과 행위’의 상관성과 윤리의 문제 -이호철의 ｢소시민｣의 경우-

Abstract

본 논문은 이호철의 「소시민」에 나타난 윤리의식을 검토한 것이다. 한국 전쟁 후의 소시민화 양상을 작가는 이 작품에서 집중적으로 의미화하고 있다. 본고에서는 이 작업 속에 드러난 인물들의 윤리성을 살펴본다. 세계에 대한 주체들의 의식과 이에 따르는 행위의 양태를 분류함으로써 이 행위들의 윤리적 의미를 분석하고자 한다.이러한 작업은 현대소설의 기본 구조가 고전 비극과는 다른 현대비극의 특징을 모체로 하고 있다는 판단에 기초한다. 고전 비극이 문제적 개인의 운명적 오류로 인한 비극이었다면 현대비극의 원인은 사회가 제공한다. 개인은 그 비극적 사회의 좌표 속에서 개별자로 놓인다. 각 개인이 비극적 좌표를 어떻게 인식하느냐의 여부에 따라 그의 행위의 양태도 달라진다.그 앎과 행위의 첫째 유형은 모르고 행하는 유형, 둘째 유형은 알고 행하지 않는 유형, 셋째는 알고도 행하는 유형, 넷째는 알고도 그럼에도 행하는 유형이다. 이 유형 분석을 통해 윤리적 행위란 무엇인가에 대한 작가의 견해를 분석해본다 This Thesis is on the consciousness of ethics in Lee Ho-cheol‘s Sosimin. This work is that which focus on the transformation of the ethical value in Post-war society into that of petty-Bourgeois. So I will think about the ethical meaning of the characters’ patterns of the actions.This attempt is based on the judgement that the basic structure of modern novel is grounded in the characteristics of modern tragedy different from the classic tragedy.The patterns in the action related to the self-consciousness have four types. The first is that of not-knowing about meanings of self-action. The second type have the knowledge about the ethical result of his action so that he cannot act. The third type have the knowledge about the ethical result of his action, but nevertheless he do it. The fourth type have he same stance of the third. But 'He knows very well what he is doing; nonetheless, he does it' can also express the most radical opposite of cynicism – that is, I simply have to do it, because of the inexorable ethical injunction.
