Abstract
This is a descriptive research to determine the risk and effects of caregivers' job stress on their mental health. It was conducted among 337 caregivers, and the factors affecting caregivers' mental health included colleague stress, work stress, and discrimination in pay and treatment, with ≥6 patients in charge in the nighttime, having a monthly average wage of 1,000-<1,500 dollars, and the explanatory power of the model being 32.3% (F=23.261, p<0.OOl). As for the odds ratio for mental health borderline by job stress of caregivers, the ratio was significant for the group with high levels of colleague stress (6.933), compared with that with low levels of colleague stress (p=0.025), and was significant for caregivers in charge of ≥6 patients in the nighttime (2.858), compared with those in charge of no patient in the nighttime (p=0.028). This study is significant in that it has empirically identified the factors related to the mental health of caregivers and determined the risk of mental health by job stress.
