dc.description.abstractThe Direct Quadrature Method of Moments (DQMOM) has been presented for the solution of pseudo-bivariate population balance equation for poly-dispersion soot particle system. This method has the inherently interesting features which can be easily applied to the multi-inner variable equation compared to QMOM. In addition, DQMOM is capable of easily considering the discrete phases such as particles size distribution while it requires the relatively low computational cost than other stochastic method. In this work, soot nucleation, aggregation, surface growth and oxidation are described through a population balance model solved with the DQMOM for soot formation. The turbulence-chemistry and soot-chemistry interaction are represented by the laminar flamelet model together with soot flamelet equation.en_US
