Abstract
This paper reviews the Direct-Quadrature Methods of Moments (DQMOM) to predict the formation processes of soot particles and presents the new formulation to deal with coupling the detailed chemistry and soot formation mechanism in turbulent reacting flows. The first part of this paper is discussed about the presently applicable both deterministic and stochastic soot models and their limitations to predict formation processes of soot particle matter. and the second part of this paper is the suggestion of new coupled formulation of detailed chemistry and soot formation mechanism in joint composition probability density function approach and its solution methods using DQMOM with Method of Moments with Interpolative Closure (MOMIC) to Population Balance Equation (PBE) on soot formation processes.
