- The present study is an analysis of fragment that occurs when an explosion occurs around a solid. Today society is always at risk of terrorism. If the terror occurs around the, such as tunnels and bridges, there will be a vast damage. There will be damages not only directly caused by the explosion, but caused by the fragments. Most researches study the effects of explosions on structures or the time when structures are destroyed. The studies on some fragments show only the behavior of fragments over time. This study attempts to propose a new methodology for analyzing fragment in order to check the stress components by step-time. We have proposed a new methodology using ABAQUS, a commercial software, and VUMAT and VDISP, which are subroutines of this program. Through VUMAT, the change of the stresses in solid per hour can be known. It is also possible to generate solid fragments when the stresses on fragments are over the specified stress by VDISP. Several examples show the suitability of this method. Finally, it is possible to express the displacement of fragment when an explosive load occurs on a simple object.
