Abstract
The kinetic energy penetrator (KE weapon) is a projectile weapon that does not explode, but rather damages its target by slamming into the target at high speed. In order to defend the kinetic energy penetrator, a rapid and active protection system is necessary. In this paper, a launching mechanism composed of 2 axis pan-tilt model is introduced. The tilt angle is controlled by position controller using semi-continuous sliding mode control. Based on the calculation of the velocity vector heading to the target point, the launching time of the defensive missile is determined. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified in simulations
