Abstract
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel binary amplitude shift keying (BASK) based signal processing for Brillouin optical correlation domain analysis with better noise performance. To subtract the background noise substructure from the conventional, broadened Brillouin signal, this method utilizes the presence of two sidebands, leading to a fourfold improvement of the spatial resolution compared to that of an ordinary BOCDA system with the same modulation parameters.
