Abstract
A two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is newly developed by solving the nonlinear shallow-water equations. An upwind scheme is used to discretized the nonlinear convection terms of the momentum equations, whereas other terms are discretized by a leap-frog scheme. The developed model is then applied to stimulate and predict tidal changes due to construction of a new harbor in Busan. Korea. Predicted free surface displacements and velocity distributions are compared to those obtained by field measurements. A very reasonable agreement is observed.
