Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the fundamental meaning of temple-stay experience of women in their 20s and 30s. Considering the fact that temple-stay is growing continuously as a leisure activity and women in 20s and 30s are main consumers, this research could provide empirical grounds for establishing strategies of the temple-stay development. This study uses one of the phenomenological approaches suggested by Colaizzi(1978) and 14 women who had experienced temple-stay were interviewed. As a result, five categories were derived from this study: self-growth, recharge, daily escape, cultural experience of Buddhism and exhibitionism. The finding of exhibitionism gives substantial meaning to this research, which is an unique category that has not been discussed previously but reflects the intention among contemporary women in 20s and 30s.
