해암 유경종의 「육언110수(六言一百十首)」 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 조선 후기에 활동한 해암(海巖) 유경종(柳慶種, 1714~1784)의 「육언110수(六言一百十首)」 연작을 분석한 것이다. 그동안 유경종과 근기 남인‧여항 문인이 육언시에 주목했다는 사실은 꾸준히 지적되어 왔지만, 창작 실상 및 당대의 인식과 육언시 형식의 특성을 바탕으로 작품을 분석한 성과는 없었다. 유경종은 박학하고 문재가 있었으나 몰락한 남인 집안인 탓에 출세의 길이 막혀 있었다. 그래서 이런 처지에 체념·만족하면서 외부 시선에 얽매이지 않으려는 성향과 기존 근체시의 규율을 거부하는 문학관을 함께 형성하였다. 이는 육언시라는 비주류의 장르를 꾸준히 창작하고 남다른 애호를 보이는 것으로 이어졌다. 뿐만 아니라 한국 육언시의 역사에서 유경종 주변 인물들의 육언시 향유 개황은 18세기 당대 근체시 위주의 시작(詩作)을 거부하고 새로운 개성을 모색한 집단의 움직임이었음을 의미한다. 「육언110수」는 「호동거실」과 함께 한국 한시 역사에 둘 뿐인 100수 이상의 육언시 연작이다. 작품 속에 계절성, 시의 유형과 그 배치, 이에 따른 정서 흐름의 변주(變奏)와 다양한 소재를 활용해 술회하는 방식이 내재한다. 여기서 기획의 의도를 읽어낼 수 있다. 「육언110수」의 주제 의식 또한 스스로 마련한 거처를 둘러싼 양가감정을 내비치고, 독특한 소재를 이용해 교훈이나 사상을 직접 표출하며, 평범한 일상의 구체적인 경험에서 양반이든 생업이든 자신의 사회적 자아에 전념하지 못하는 부끄러움을 발견한다. 이때 우선 경물(景物)을 보여주며 유경종 자신의 거처와 그곳에서의 생활을 운치 있게 묘사하고, 하고픈 말을 독자에게 말해주는 방식을 함께 구사함으로써 이전 시대 육언시 작품의 성과를 널리 받아들였다. 육언시만의 묘사, 구식, 장법(章法) 등도 근체시에 비해 자유로운 표현을 가능하게 하면서 위 주제를 뒷받침하고 있다. 결국 「육언110수」는 사인(士人) 신분의 작가가 근체시의 규율을 거부한 확실한 사례, 유경종을 비롯한 몰락한 근기 남인들의 고민을 솔직한 언어로 대변한 작품, 똑같이 100수 이상의 육언시 연작인 「호동거실」을 이해할 실마리로서의 의의를 지닌다.|□ Abstract

A Study on Haeam Yu Kyung-Jong's "six-character-poetry 110 poems"

Although it has been steadily pointed out that Yoo Kyung-jong and the recent Nam-in and Yeo-hang writers paid attention to Yuk-Eon poetry, there has been no achievement in analyzing the work based on the creative reality, the perception of the time, and the characteristics of six character poetry. Yoo Kyung-jong was knowledgeable and literary, but his path to success was blocked due to the collapsed family of men. Therefore, while giving up and being satisfied with this situation, he formed a view of literature that refused to be bound by external gaze and rejected the existing rules of modern poetry. This led to the steady creation of a non-mainstream genre called Yuk Eon Poetry and showing extraordinary affection. In addition, in the history of Korean six character poetry, the opening of the enjoyment of six character poetry by the people around Yoo Gyeong-jong was a movement of a group in the 18th century, rejecting the 作 of poetry focused on modern poetry. "six character poetry 110 poems" is a series of more than 100 Chinese poems that are only placed in the history of Korean poetry, along with "Hodong Geosil". Seasonality, the type and arrangement of poetry, the variation of emotional flow accordingly, and the method of conversation using various materials are inherent in the work. At this time, first of all, the achievements of six character poetry in the previous era were widely accepted by showing a image, depicting Yoo Gyeong-jong's own residence and life there in a tasteful way, and using a method of telling the reader what he wanted to say. Yuk Eon Poetry's description, old-fashioned, and 章 methods also support the above topic while enabling free expression compared to modern poetry. In the end, "six character poetry 110 poems" has significance as a clue to understanding "Hodong Geosil," a series of more than 100 yuk Eon poems, which represented the concerns of the fallen men, including Yoo Kyung-jong, in honest language.
