기호학적 관점에서의 스마트폰 아이콘 연구

Abstract

21세기 디지털미디어(Digital Media) 시대에 HCI(Human Computer Interaction)기술의 발전으로 인한 새롭고 다양한 인터페이스(Interface)의 등장은 대량의 정보를 빠르고 정확하게 다룰 수 있도록 하였을 뿐만 아니라 조형미가 뛰어난 GUI(Graphic User Interface) 디자인(Design)을 가능하게 하였다. 이러한 시점에서 본 연구에서는 최근 급속하게 발전하고 있는 대표적인 모바일디바이스(Mobile Device)인 스마트폰(Smart Phone) GUI의 아이콘(Icon) 디자인을 기호학적 관점에서 분석하고 그 문제점을 도출하여 보다 효율적인 정보 커뮤니케이션(Communication)을 위한 아이콘 활용 방안을 모색하고자 하였다.

스마트폰의 사용자 인터페이스의 디자인에 있어 사용자에게 제공되는 사용성은 원활한 정보 커뮤니케이션을 위한 매우 중요한 요소라 할 수 있다. 사용자에게 높은 효율성과 학습 용이성, 사용 만족성을 제공하기 위해서는 의미 전달이 쉽고 빠르게 이루어져야 하며 이는 사용자 인터페이스(User Interface)의 구성요소 중 하나인 아이콘의 긍정적 특성을 통해 효과적으로 이루어질 수 있다. 아이콘의 특성을 보다 효율적으로 나타내기 위한 시각적 표현에서 기호학적 관점의 아이콘 분석은 매우 중요하며 아이콘이 나타내는 기호학적 구성요소인 표상체와 대상체, 해석체의 일치를 통해 아이콘이 본래 나타내고자 하는 의미와 기호구성이 일치시켜 의미전달의 효율성을 증대시킬 수 있다.

본 논문에서는 스마트폰 아이콘의 기호학적 분석을 사용자 인터페이스로서의 아이콘과 기호학의 연관성을 증명하고 아이콘 디자인 발전을 위한 기초로 삼고자 하였다.;Now in the 21st century is the digital media era. Accordingly, Smart phone design of the GUI icon semiotics analyzed. Usability of the smart phone user interface is very important in communication. Icons feature is very effective to increase the usability. Because semiotic analysis of icons are very importance. And semiotics of the component representation Sign, Object, Interpretant the identification is very important too. Through this, the meaning of the icon of the communication is maximized. This study proves an association between the icon and semiotics and uses a semiotic analysis on the smart phone icon design.
