드뷔시의 <클라리넷과 피아노를 위한 프리미어 랩소디>를 통해 본 후기 양식 변화

Abstract

클로드 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy, 1862-1918)는 인상주의를 대표하는 작곡가로 잘 알려져 있다. 하지만 드뷔시의 양식 변화를 자세히 살펴보면 중기 작품은 대부분이 인상주의 음악 어법으로 작곡되었지만, 바그너(Wilhelm Richard Wagner, 1813-1883)의 후기 낭만주의에 강한 영향을 받았던 초기 작품과 20세기 초반 음악계의 신고전주의적 흐름과 무관할 수 없었던 후기 작품에서 드러나는 인상주의와 다른 양식을 보았을 때, 드뷔시의 전체 음악을 모두 동일하게 인상주의로 분류할 수 있을지는 의문의 여지가 있다. 본 논문에서는 드뷔시의 후기 작품인 <클라리넷과 피아노를 위한 프리미어 랩소디>(Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet and Piano, 1910)를 형식, 리듬, 중심음 및 음계적 측면에서 분석하여, 이 작품에서 드뷔시의 인상주의적 음악 어법 외에 작곡 당시의 프랑스의 새로운 음악의 흐름이었던 신고전주의적인 양식이 포함되어 있는지 연구해보았다. 그리고 작품의 연구를 통해 서로 다른 사조들이 한 작품 안에서 동시에 나타날 수 있음을 발견할 수 있었다.

|Claude Achille Debussy (1862-1918) is well-known as a composer that represents Impressionism. Although most of his mid works were composed with Impressionist techniques, it is hard to classify all of his work as Impressionism since his early works were strongly influenced by the late Romanticism of Wilhelm Richard Wagner (1813-1883) and his late work shows some Neoclassical style, which was widespread in the early 20th century and different from Impressionism. Against this backdrop, this study analyzes Debussy's late work “The Premiere Rhapsody for Clarinet and Piano” (1910) in terms of form, rhythm, central tone, and scale in order to examine whether the Neoclassical style, which had become a new musical trend in France, was reflected in the music in addition to his Impressionist patterns. As a result, it was found that different trends can appear in a single piece of work.
