Abstract
Reusability of liquid rocket engines relies on durability and reliability of bearings of turbopumps. The current work introduces a novel floating sleeve hybrid fluid film journal bearing for application of future reusable turbopumps and measures its static load performance. Measurements show that the test bearing shows a distinctive damping capability and stability characteristics even under a low supply pressure condition compared to a typical hybrid bearing.
