전통 건축물의 조명등 개발을 위한 기초 연구

Abstract

Lighting lamps are a daily necessity indispensable for daily life, and the function to brighten the dark and the features of the appearance coexist. Throughout the production process, lighting lamps reflect the lifestyle and culture of the time as a kind of craft. In particular, our traditional lamps have been developed diversely in their use and forms such as oil lamps, which emitted light using animal or vegetable oils as media, candlesticks that were used with a candle put on them, and paper lanterns and footlights that were brightening night roads during nighttime movements. As new fuels such as oil, gas, and electricity were introduced in the modern times, the functions of traditional lamps were somewhat reduced, and as housing types and lifestyles changed along with the development of times, the traditional lamps were replaced by Western-style direct and indirect lightings using electricity. This study is a basic study to propose lighting designs considering the spatial characteristics of traditional buildings and to proceed with the actual production later, and is intended to generally examine the flow of Korean traditional lamps, and review the cases of use of lighting lamps in royal architecture and civil architecture. 조명등은 일상에 꼭 필요한 생활 용구로 어둠을 밝히는 기능과 함께 공예품의 한 종류로 당대의 생활양식과 문화를 반영한다. 특히 우리의 전통 등은 동·식물의 기름을 매제로 빛을 밝히던 등잔과 초를 꽂아 사용하던 촛대, 야간 이동 시 밤길을 밝히던 제등과 조족등 등 그 쓰임과 형식에 따라 다양하게 발달하였다. 근대기 석유와 가스, 전기 등 새로운 연료가 전래됨에 따라 전통 등의 기능은 다소 축소되었고, 시대가 발전함에 따라 주거형태와 생활양식이 변화하면서 전통 등은 전기를 사용하는 서양식 직·간접 조명으로 대체되었다. 본 연구는 추후 전통 건축물의 공간 특성을 고려한 조명 디자인 제안 및 실물 제작을 진행하기 위한 기초 연구로 우리나라의 전통 등의 흐름을 개괄적으로 살펴보고, 왕실 건축과 민가 건축의 조명등 사용 사례를 살펴보고자 한다.
