Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the concept of proportion appeared in Lee Hi-tai's religious buildings. For this, we try to make clear the principal methods architect Lee Hi-tai uses. They proceed as follow : 1) Square acts as the most important geometric element in composing building facade. 2) As general the building facade is constituted by two squares. So it shows a ratio of 2 to 1. 3) Upper portion and ground level of building are visually divided, and upper portion has the ratio of 3 to 1. 4) The width of building and the height of bell tower constitute a square.
