Abstract
Investment and concern on education of professional construction engineers are important for competitiveness of the Korea construction industry. Most of all, the roles of the site manager, who is in charged of the construction site, are most important in comparison to other functions. This study uses interviews conducted with field managers to analyze their work and responsibilities and arranges the gathered recent information into tabularized classifications of their positions. This study analyzes current works scope of the site manager and draws a comprehensive model of the site managers functions. Moreover, this paper classifies construction management subjects based on gathered information about the site managers needs for enhanced performance in his job. In addition this paper proposes a systematic CM education model for developing professional site managers.
