Abstract
The lighting energy load typically accounts for about 30 to 50% of the total electric energy consumption in typical commercial buildings. The lighting energy can be significantly reduced by automated dimming controls in office buildings under daylit conditions. In Korea, however, dimming control systems for fluorescent lighting fixtures are mostly foreign products and building owners and designers are reluctant to invest money on the lighting control systems due to high initial cost. The purpose of this study was to build a mock-up model for developing a BACnet-based lighting control system and developing an accurate control algorithm. The initial pilot study revealed that the photocell output signal was linearly correlated with the light output of fluorescent luminaire.
