Abstract
A very wide range of treatment processes have been applied to leachate treatment in the world with varying success. At Asan landfill site leachate has high ammonia concentration up to 600 mg/l, causing high pH value initially. So during leachate treatment in SBR 6 hrs of aeration time is given but during first 2 hrs ammonia oxidation accelerates and then it is slowed down because of low pH and inhibition. Early 2 hrs are the most significant in process, we can utilize this rapid oxidation of ammonia more then one time, by introducing successive feeding and aeration stages we can enhance the ammonia oxidation process. (In other words) in this study we are using rapid ammonia removal rate three times or more (if required) during 1 complete cycle we can get better results from SBR process. Basically 2 different sets of experiments will be performed, all include 4 reactor operated simultaneously in first set we will check the effect of different timings of the reaction process, in second the comparison of leachate results will be done with synthetic wastewater. The effect of FA and FNA will be studied during this experiment. Because of high Nitrite accumulation in the reactor the process might be affected in later feedings, so in different experiment external carbon source will be introduced to check the effect on over all process. Overall cost estimation will be studied which include energy requirement and external carbon source required.
