Abstract
The tsunamis are caused by submarine volcanic eruptions, submarine collapse, submarine nuclear tests and submarine earthquakes, most of which are caused by earthquakes. In fact, the tsunami of the East Sea in 1983 hit the vicinity of Imwon port of Imwon-ri Wonduk-eup, Samcheok, Gangwondo causing casualties and property damage. In particular, there are seismic gaps in the west coast of Japan that are likely to cause earthquakes in the future. Thus, Korea is not a safe zone against tsunami attacks. Therefore, it is necessary to construct a coastal defense system in Korea to mitigate huge economic losses and minimize the loss of human lives in the case of a real event. In order to construct a response system, research such as numerical simulations should be preceded. In the earlier study, 3 historical and 11 virtual tsunamis were selected to prepare a maximum inundation map by applying numerical model based on the linear shallow-water equations with a dispersion correction technique.  In this study, 9 inundation maps were generated according to the tsunami source region using 11 virtual tsunamis and 9 hazard maps were produced using each inundation map. Hazard maps were designed to evacuate most effectively by setting emergency evacuation place, evacuation place, and evacuation routes differently. The hazard map is expected to play a significant role in establishing a coastal response system in the future.
