Abstract
Motion compensation in the video coding standard shows low performance when blur occurs in the scene. Thus, pre-filtering algorithm can be applied to motion estimation process to enhance coding efficiency. However, not all part of the frame contains blur effect. For this reason, analyzing the characteristic of the each frame is needed to select proper filter set. In this paper, we adopt saliency detection by simple priors to get saliency map of reference frame. By analyzing the saliency map, we applied contents-based adaptive filter for pre-filtering algorithm in high efficiency video coding.
