The purpose of this article is to understand power relation and structure inherent in the culture of school sport teams in terms of a sociocultural perspective. This analysis of the power relation inherent in the culture of school sport clubs provide an insight to understanding the power structure and relations between coaches, student-athletes and their parents and then to seeking policy alternatives regarding unequal power relations among them. For this study, a single case study approach based on a qualitative methodology was adopted focusing on the sport of basketball. The paper identified: first, the culture of school sport is a double-edged sword: 'admiration' and 'hardship'; second, it identified unbalanced power relations in the context of school sport culture; and third, there is a key that makes student-athletes study. Policy alternatives are as follows: First, we should utilize ode to school sport teams in order to improve their image; second, we should consider an inherent socio-cultural change in South Korea to root balanced the power relation and the horizontal social relation among them in the culture of school sport clubs; and third, we should provide security for student-athletes' right for learning (study).en_US
