In this paper, a mathematical model for a pulley-belt system is proposed to analyze dynamic behavior of driving units and free vibration analyses are carried out. The pulley-belt system proposed here includes a belt, two pulleys and main body which makes the pulley-bely system have rigid-body motion. By using Hamilton’s principle, three linear governing equations of motion and eight boundary conditions are derived. The Galerkin methods are used to discretize the equation of motions and boundary conditions. The free vibration analysis for various parameters of the pulley-belt system are made, including the spring constant and moving velocity, and complex modes and dynamic response are analyzed.en_US
