Abstract
This paper presents a new traffic signal control algorithm for reducing CO2 at the Gangnam intersection via Realtime traffic information estimated using vehicle driving characteristics. The vehicle driving characteristic have a vital influence on reducing CO2. The algorithm estimates real-time traffic conditions using each vehicle’s driving characteristics for every step time and calculate optimal traffic signal time. This algorithm use vehicle position, speed, and acceleration to calculate the queue length and traffic light green time. This algorithm is simulated using microscopic traffic simulation tool (SUMO) with Python database for verifying its effectiveness.
