부·모가 지각한 원가족경험이 부부관계를 매개로 자녀양육행동에 미치는 영향

Abstract

이 연구에서는 부모가 지각한 원가족경험, 부부관계, 자녀양육행동 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 원가족경험이 자녀양육행동에 미치는 영향에서 부부관계가 매개효과를 보이는지 알아보았다.

이 연구에서 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모가 지각한 자녀양육행동은 부, 모에 따른 차이가 있는가? 둘째, 부모가 지각한 원가족경험, 부부관계, 자녀양육행동(온정·수용, 거부·제재, 허용·방임)은 상관관계가 있는가? 셋째, 부모가 지각한 원가족경험과 자녀양육행동(온정·수용, 거부·제재, 허용·방임)의 관계에서 부부관계는 매개효과가 있는가?

연구대상은 서울지역의 M유치원, S유치원, P어린이집과 경기도지역의 D어린이집, S어린이집, B어린이집 총 6개의 유아교육기관에 다니고 있는 유아의 부모 309명이었으며, 연구대상자의 성별은 부와 모가 각각 120명(38.8%), 189명(61.2%)으로 이루어졌다. 부모의 원가족경험은 Havestadt와 동료들(1985)이 개발한 원가족경험 척도를 최현미(1997)가 한국가족에 적합하도록 수정, 번안한 척도를 사용하였다. 양육행동은 Schaefer(1965)의 어머니 양육모형을 기반으로 박영애(1995)가 개발한 양육행동척도를 사용하였고, 부부관계는 Olsen, Fournier & Druckmen(1982)의 부부관계정도와 Snyder(1981)의 MSI를 우리나라의 부부관계 측정에 맞게 수정, 보완한 강인향(2009)의 척도를 사용하였다. 연구 자료는 SPSS 22.0통계 프로그램을 사용하여 분석되었다.

이 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자녀양육행동과 관련하여 부와 모의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 온정·수용 양육행동과 허용·방임 양육행동에서는 부, 모 간 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았고, 거부·제재 양육행동에서는 부, 모 간 유의미한 차이를 보였는데, 모가 부보다 자녀에게 거부적이고 제재적인 양육행동을 더 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부모가 지각한 원가족경험, 부부관계, 자녀양육행동 간의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 각 변인들 간에는 유의한 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 먼저 원가족경험을 긍정적으로 지각하면 온정·수용 양육행동을 더 보이며, 거부·제재 양육행동과 허용·방임 양육행동은 덜 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 원가족경험을 긍정적으로 지각하면 긍정적인 부부관계를 보이는 것으로 나타났으며, 마지막으로 부부관계를 긍정적으로 지각하면 온정·수용 양육행동을 더 보이고 거부·제재와 허용·방임 양육행동은 덜 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 부모가 지각한 원가족경험과 자녀양육행동(온정·수용, 거부·제재, 허용·방임)의 관계에서 부부관계의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 부부관계는 원가족경험과 자녀양육행동(온정·수용, 거부·제재, 허용·방임)의 관계를 각각 부분매개 하였다. 이는 부모의 원가족경험은 자녀양육행동에 직접적인 영향을 미치기도 하지만 부부관계를 통해서 간접적인 영향을 미치고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 이로써 긍정적인 자녀양육행동을 위해서는 부모의 원가족경험과 부부관계를 동시에 고려할 필요가 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

이러한 연구 결과를 통해 부모가 지각한 원가족경험은 부부관계를 통하여 자녀양육행동에 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인하였으며, 아동과 부모상담 현장에서 부부관계 개선을 함께 고려하는 것이 자녀양육에 도움이 될 수 있다는 점을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 결과는 올바른 자녀양육행동을 위한 프로그램 개발에 활용할 수 기초자료로 제공 될 것이다.; This study examined relationships among original family experience of parents, marital relationships, and their child-rearing behavior and if the marital relationships show mediating effects in an effect of original family experience of parents on their child-rearing behavior.

Research questions set by the study are as follows. First, is there any difference among their child-rearing behavior according to parents? Second, is there any correlation among original family experience of parents, marital relationships, and their child-rearing behavior (Warmth · acceptance, rejection · restraint, and permission · neglect)? Third, is there any mediating effect of marital relationships in the effect of original family experience of parents on their child-rearing behavior (Warmth · acceptance, rejection · restraint, and permission · neglect)?

The subjects of the study were 309 parents of children who attend total 6 childhood education institutions of M Kindergarten, S Kindergarten, and P Daycare Center in Seoul and D Daycare Center, S Daycare Center, and B Daycare Center in Gyeonggi-do. For gender of the subjects of the study, father and mothers were respectively 120 persons (38.8%), 189 persons (61.2%). In order to measure original family experience of parents, their child-rearing behavior, and marital relationships, original family experience measure (Choi Hyeonmi, 1997), child-rearing behavior measure (Park Yeongae, 1995), and marital relationship measure (Kang Inhyang, 2009) were respectively used. Research materials were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 Statistics Program.

Major results of the research questions of the study are as follows. First, the study checked if there is any difference among parents in reference to their child-rearing behavior Next, child-rearing behavior has found that there was no difference in warmth · acceptance and permission · neglect and mothers' scores are higher thant fathers' in rejection · restraint. Second, the results which examined correlations among original family experience of parents, their child-rearing behavior, and marital relationships are as follows: First, original family experience showed positive relationships in child-rearing behaviour (Warmth · acceptance) and marital relationships and negative relationships in child-rearing behaviour (Rejection · restraint and permission · neglect). Next, marital relationships showed positive relationships in child-rearing behaviour (Warmth · acceptance) and negative relationships in child-rearing behaviour (Rejection · restraint and permission · neglect). Third, mediating effects of marital relationship were verified in the relationship between original family experience of parents and their child-rearing behavior. The results have found that original family experience of parents shows mediating effects in child-rearing behaviour (Warmth · acceptance, rejection · restraint, and permission · neglect) by mediating their marital relationships partially. The marital relationships have found to have an indirect effect on child-rearing behavior as it mediate the relationship between original family experience of parents and their child-rearing behavior partially. Based on these results of the study, it has found that marital relationships are mediating factor to raise children positively. This has found that consideration of improved marital conflict and relationships in children's and parental counseling can be helpful for child rearing. The results like this provide the base line data which can be utilized in parent education and child counseling.
