한국 근대시에 나타난 ‘벌거벗은 생명’과 주체 인식 - ‘김조규’, ‘오장환’의 시 연구

Abstract

일제는 피지배자인 우리의 근대인들을 착취하며, 수탈했으나 한편으로는 대동아공영권을 내세워 식민주체의 권력과 부에 대한 우리의 욕망을 양산하기도 했다. 이는 식민주체의 위치에 오를 수 있다는 헛된 소망을 통해 피지배자로서의 위치를 망각하고 식민주체를 닮아가려는 기만의 정치였다. 주권권력에 포함시키면서 배제하고, 배제하면서 포함시키는 이러한 기만은 우리의 근대인들을 이중의 딜레마에 빠뜨렸으며, 우리는 스스로를 벌거벗은 생명인 호모사케르로 인식하였다. 동물과도 같은 미천한 존재성에 대한 자기 모멸의 인식은 조선의 땅을 떠나 디아스포라적 상황에 처해있던 우리 민족들에게서 더욱 심화되어 나타났다. 1930년대부터 40년 해방 이전까지 디아스포라로서의 삶을 경험했던 김조규와 오장환의 시는 이러한 ‘벌거벗은 생명’으로서의 자의식이 두드러진다. 그의 초기 시에도 빼앗긴 조국에 대한 비탄과 상실을 주된 정서로 하는 저항의 양상이 나타난다 할 수 있지만 과도한 수사와 추상성을 드러낸다는 점에서 깊이 있는 현실 인식에 도달했다 보기 어렵다. 이들의 시가 보다 구체화된 현실인식을 보이는 것은 디아스포라적 상황을 통하여 우리가 처한 호모사케르적인 존재성을 직시하면서부터라 할 수 있다. 주목할 점은 김조규와 오장환의 시는 우리를 호모사케르로 만든 식민 주체의 폭력을 비판하면서 동시에 피식민자인 나에 대한 부정에 더욱 몰두하고 있는 점이다. 식민 주체에 의하여 기만당하는 ‘나’의 무능함은 주체가 되지 못하는 존재의 수동성에 대한 비판일 것이다. 하지만 이들의 자기 부정은 근대 사회라는 바깥에 존재하는 폭력성에 대한 비판에서부터 한 걸음 더 나아간다. 오장환과 김조규의 시에 나타나는 자기 부정은 주체가 되지 못한다는 사실이 아니라 사회의 시스템 속에서 기율당하는 한에서만 주체로 존재할 수밖에 없는 ‘구조’의 인식이다. 한 개인은 사회의 시스템이 가동되는 데 일조하는 존재이며, 사회의 구조 속에 갇혀 있는 자라는 사실을 인식하는 것은 역설적으로 이미 형성된 사회와 역사의 시스템으로부터 벗어나려는 의지와 관련이 있다. 오장환과 김조규 시의 자기부정성은 이런 의미에서 역설적 의미의 주체 인식이라 할 것이다. The modern koreans were exploited by japanese imperialism. But they were driven by their strong desire for power and wealth of the subject of imperialism. It was the way that they became entangled in a conspiracy of ‘Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere’. It was Politics of Deception that made subject peoples believe ‘the same as japanese colonial ruler to be true. ‘Sovereignty’ which was said by Giorgio Agamben at Homo Sacer included subordinate, ‘bare life’ to protection of the law and then at the same time excluded them. The fraudulent act by japanese imperialism let the modern koreans be in a dilemma. Above all this feeling of self-contempt appeared to the modern korean people emigrated to Manchuria, ‘Diaspora’. Thus this study aimed at to clarify meaning of Kim Jo-Gyu and O jang-hwan s Poems. Because Kim Jo-Gyu and O jang-hwan experienced ‘Diaspora situation’ and resisted japanese imperialism but were in dual dilemma. Their poems criticized the violence by ‘Sovereignty power’ and then at the same time assimilated with violence of power. Subject of Kim Jo-Gyu and O jang-hwan s Poetry can’t become true subject. But all together placed in the structure of age and nobody can escape it. To recognize that can be the subject is excellent Recognition.
