- The electric oiling pump is a kind of mixed-flow pump. The mixed-flow pump uses a centrifugal force generated by rotating one or several impellers in a closed casing to increase the pressure of the working fluid, The flow of fluid from the impeller is converted into pressure energy from the impeller and the fluid flows continuously through the pump action. In addition, the multistage pump has the properties of a centrifugal pump and an axial pump, Compared to an axial flow pump, it has a higher head value.
In this study, a design optimization to improve hydraulic efficiency of the electric fuel pump was implemented. Design of experiments was used as a design optimization method. The performance of the optimized design was evaluated using a commercial computational fluid analysis code. The 2k factorial design method was used to determine the degree to which each design variable influenced pump performance and to select the design variable with the effect according to the result. Using the Response Surface Method(RSM), the optimized model has been created to achieve higher hydraulic efficiency than the base model. The internal pressure and flow field were analyzed by comparing the basic and optimized models to see how the performance improved. The optimized model shows less vortex generation and more natural pressure distribution.
