자기반영적 영화의 이데올로기 해체 전략 연구- 영화 ˂액트 오브 킬링 The Act of Killing˃을 중심으로

Abstract

영국의 다큐멘터리 감독 조슈아 오펜하이머가 제작한 < 액트 오브 킬 링 >(2012)은 영화의 자기반영성을 주요한 전략으로 취하고 있는 영화이다. 1965년 인도네시아의 군부에 의해 50만 명에서 100만 명에 달하는 공산주의 자, 화교 등이 희생되었다. 오펜하이머는 카메라를 들고 직접 인도네시아로 들어가 1965년에 있었던 R30 사태 이후 민간인 학살을 주도한 준군사조직 멤버 중 한명인 안와르 콩고에게 자신의 영웅적 행위를 기리기 위해 학살 당시의 상황을 재현한 극영화를 제작할 것을 제안한다. 그리고 그 제작 과정 을 카메라에 담아 또 한편의 영화로 제작하였다. 가해자 입장에서 사건을 바라보며 극영화 제작 과정을 반영한 < 액트 오브 킬링 >은 내용과 형식이라는 두 가지 측면에서 새롭고, 대안적인 영화라 할 수 있다. 먼저 이 영화의 구체적인 자기반영 전략은 크게 셋으로 구분할 수 있다. 첫 번째 전략은 수사학적 내포 저자 개념에 대한 접근을 통해 확인할 수 있다. 내화(극영화)의 내포 저자가 실제 저자인 안와르를 공격하는 과정을 보여 줌으로써 이데올로기에 대한 비판을 형식적으로 강화하는 것이다. 다음 전략 들은 보드리가 주창한 장치이론적 접근을 통해 확인할 수 있는데, 두 번째 전략은 영화의 핵심 사건인 극영화 제작 과정을 관객에게 노출함으로써 영 화의 환영주의를 폭로하는 것이다. 영화의 기본적 장치의 노출로 환영주의와 이데올로기적 작용을 해체시킨다. 마지막으로 안와르의 영화 관람 경험 그리 고 지금까지 꾸고 있는 그의 악몽을 과거 사건과 연결시켜 인과관계를 정신 분석학적으로 추론하는 전략이다. 이러한 전략들은 다큐멘터리의 극영화 반 영을 통해 이데올로기를 해체하는 영화의 대안적 가능성을 보여주는 분명한 예라고 할 수 있을 것이다. This study is on the self-reflexive film’s strategy to dismantle the ideology. A documentary filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer of UK produced < The act of killing >. This is a film that takes the self-reflectivity as the main strategy. About one million Indonesian communists or Chinese were massacred in 1965 by the military. Oppenheimer suggested to Anwar Congo who led the massacre in 1965 to make a movie. So < The act of Killing > became a self-reflexive, alternative movie in terms of content and format. The strategy of the movie is three. The first strategy can be checked through access to the implied author which is rhetorical concept. The implied author of the movie made by Anwar uncovers the dominant ideology of Indonesia. The second strategy is to expose the Illusionism of movie by exposing the filmmaking process. Finally, the movie analyzes the cinema experience and a nightmare of Anwar by psychoanalysis. Studies by Jean－Louis Baudry and Christian Metz were very helpful to analyze the strategy. And these strategies help the movie to be an alternative films to dismantle the ideology.
