dc.description.abstractThe world is developing and we are living in the 21st century. A life and values of human are changing along with advancement of an economic standard, and a space that will embrace a human life is also changing. We are to consider our culture and tradition to be important and to inherit it. Where do we put the standard for our traditional space? Lets think about it together through this course. This course explores understanding of our traditional architecture and traditional space, regional characteristics of traditional houses in Korea, and elements of traditional buildings. The course looks into traditional buildings of Korea, traditional dwelling of Korea, regional traditional dwelling, a system of traditional villages, opening area and doors and windows of traditional buildings, banister and pattern of traditional houses, and lofts based on data such as the related studies. And it examines possibility of development of apartments or town houses that adopted traditional elements, conversion of traditional Korean style houses to Dining-Kitchen, possibility to adopt traditionality to modern architecture and modern space. It also studies supply and invigoration of new Korean style houses, a way of expressing traditionality in dining spaces, a way of expressing traditionality in hotel spaces, and a way of expressing traditionality in commercial spaces. In addition, things you can learn from traditional spaces of foreign countries will be discussed together by finding examples of expression of traditionality in overseas (Ando architecture, Japanese modern spaces, modernization process of Korea and China, traditional architecture of Korea and Japan etc.)en_US
