Abstract
The cement industry, with its large energy consumption and use limestone as a raw-material, producing CO2 the main cause of global warming, is expected to be faced with a major set-back in the near future to overcome the environmental problems. This research is to find out the materialistic characteristics of zeolite cement mortar, which is being newly examined as a cement substitute. Natural Zeolite cement mortar was prepared using alkali activation(NaOH) instead of water(H2O), and its degree of strength and the appropriate mixing ratio was found. Based on this, functional material was added to alkali active agent hardening zeolite mortar, to develop a highly functional construction material. The result observed showed that depending on the amount of alkaline catalyst mixed and the temperature of hardening, pure zeolite cement attained compressive strength of 42㎫ in 7 days, showing superior efficiency and the obvious possibility as a new substitute of present construction material.
