반봉건과 반식민의 이데올로기적 경쟁의 장으로서 영화 YMCA야구단

Abstract

본 연구는 조선 최초의 야구단인 황성YMCA야구단의 이야기를 바탕으로 한 영화 'YMCA야구단'을 대상으로 영화에서 나타나는 사회적 의미와 이데올로기적 담론을 분석하고자 하였으며, 이를 위해 해석적 텍스트 분석을 실시하였다. 영화 'YMCA야구단'에서 나타난 이데올로기적 담론은 크게 반(反)봉건과 반(反)식민이다. 첫째, 반봉건적 이데올로기는 영화에서 등장하는 인물의 성격과 갈등을 통해서 나타나고 있으며 구체적으로 신분제 폐지 후 양반과 머슴의 신분갈등과 남성우월적 봉건사회와 신여성의 갈등, 전통적 가치관과 신세대의 세대 간 갈등을 상징적으로 나타내고 있다. 둘째, 반식민 이데올로기는 영화의 등장인물의 캐릭터를 통해서 잘 나타나고 있다. '선비' 호창은 스포츠경기 내에서 지배에 저항하는 상징적 인물이며 영화의 엔딩에서 암행어사의 상징적 이미지를 통해서 지배 세력인 일본에 대한 반식민적 저항의 의미를 나타내고 있다. 이 영화는 1900년대 초 조선사회가 가지고 있는 봉건과 반봉건 그리고 식민과 반식민의 사회적 갈등을 상징적으로 잘 나타내고 있으며 현대사회에 전달하고자 하는 역사적 메시지를 통해 당시 사회의 스포츠를 통한 경쟁과 갈등의 이데올로기적 담론을 구성하고 있다.This study was designed to analyze social meanings and contending ideological discourses which are portrayed throughout the movie. For this study it selected 'YMCA Baseball Team' Movie which is based on real story from late Chosun Dynasty Period in the early 20C and employed the interpretative textual analysis to figure out 'Visual Texts' and 'Audible Texts'. The movie "YMCA Baseball Team" presents its discourse with two types; one is anti-feudal and the other is anti-colonial. The anti-feudalism ideology is presented around class conflicts, new women's roles and images, and generation gaps by focusing on the struggles between feudalism and anti-feudalism. Second, the anti-colonialism is depicted through one character and his roles, 'Hochang' who is protagonist of the movie in the movie 'Hochang' is a symbol of resistance and anti-colonialism against Japan; at the end of movie, his role is 'AMHANGYEOSA' a secret royal inspector who symbolically accused the Japanese of being the disseizor. The movie portrays social conflicts at the beginning of the 20C in Korea and consists of contending ideological discourses which connote historical messages around the fast transition period between traditional society and modern society in the early 20C's Korea.
