Effective exchange of information is essential for successful engineering in the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) industry such as Chemical Manufacturing, Electrical Power Generation, Gas Distribution, and Oil Refining. Technology development is increasing the complexity of project engineering due to consideration of design process, system integration, construction method selection and sustainability. In the engineering stage, the accuracy and timing of the information exchange between the engineering disciplines are risks to the success of project. Due to the sequential nature of an EPC Project, the accuracy and timing affects the workmanship and completeness of front and back Engineering, Procurement, and Construction activities. Therefore, in order to effectively allocate contingency costs for the project and to accurately predict schedule and cost, careful management of information dependency between different engineering disciplines is required. This paper aims to present a conceptual method to improve the engineering process through the application of case-based reasoning (CBR) by demonstrating that timely retrieval of more accurate information is possible via modeling in Open Source CBR tool. A prototype electrical load prediction model for an offshore platform is simulated using CBR methodology, and also it is demonstrated that the Weight Factor value significantly increases the accuracy of the retrieval result. The Weight Factor of chosen attributes are validated through analytical hierarchy process (AHP) analysis.-
