Abstract
User Interface 디자인에 있어서 task complexity 를 결정하는 전통적인 방법은 하나의 명령어를 구성하는 action 의 개수와 그 다양한 action 을 chunking 할 수 있는 BNF (Bakus-Naur Form) rule 의 개수로 측정하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이런 formative 접근법에서 벗어나서 task complexity 를 시간에 따른 각 명령어에 대한 recall 정도를 측정하여 자주 수행하지 않거나, 오래 전에 학습하여 수행하는 방법을 망각한 task 의 경우 더 높은 task complexity 를 가진다는 것을 실험적으로 증명하였다. 본 연구에서는 task 의 난이도와 반복횟수에 따른 memory decay 곡선을 추정하고, 그에 따른 task complexity 평가 방법을 제안한다.In user interface design, task complexity is traditionally measured by the number of actions and BNF (Bakus-Naur Form) rules for chunking actions that constitute an instructional command. In this paper, task complexity is measured by the level of memory recall on a memory decay function for each command over time. An empirical study suggested that as users did not perform a task frequently, its task complexity got higher as time passed, by which we derived an asymptotic task complexity model along with the number of rehearsal.
