하이든 교향곡의 해석학적 접근: 제13번 "연타"(Drum Roll)를 중심으로

Abstract

하이든의 교향곡 제103번 '연타' 1악장은 당대 프랑스 이론가 모미니에 의해 '신과 죄인의 조우'라는 종교적인 연관성을 부여한 <시적, 묘사적 분석>이 시도된 바 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 하이든의 이러한 이상이 교향곡 안에서 어떻게 구체화시켰는지를 알아보기 위해 여기 사용된 관습적인 토픽들, 이 토픽들 간의 연결과 상호연관성을 동기작법, 선율이나 화성의 진행 등을 살펴보는 체계적인 분석과 종합하여 하이든 교향곡에 접근하는 해석학적인 분석의 틀을 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 모미니의 분석과 교향곡 103번 1악장을 자신의 교향곡에 '도덕적 인물/성격'(moralische Charaktere)을 표현하였다고 한 하이든의 언급을 그 시작점으로 삼아 18세기 기악음악에 대한 계몽주의와 관념론, 교향곡 장르가 갖는 의미, 당시 교향곡의 표제적 성격, 하이든이 교향곡 장르를 통해 실현하고자 했던 이상을 다양한 관점에서 해석해 보았다.The first movement of Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 103, 'Drum roll' had been analyzed by the contemporary french theorist, Jerome-Joseph de Momigny, in his Cours complet d'harmonie et de composition of 1805, in the theme of ‘the confrontation of God and the Sinner.’ In this study, diverse ways of interpreting Haydn’s symphonies was proposed combining the topic analysis including the concatenations and interrelations of the topics in the context of Momigny’s narrative, with the systematic analysis such as motivic manipulations and melodic, harmonic structures. For this purpose, an interpretation of the movement from the examination of the meaning and the function of the symphony as a genre, its programatic character, and how Haydn’s ideal had been come true through his symphony, in the retrospective of the Enlightenment and the Idealism of 18th century instrumental music was derived from the standpoint of the descriptive and poetic analysis of Momigny and Haydn’s wellknown comments on his symphony represented ‘moral characters/characteristics.’
