Abstract
This study aims to reveal that, according to the writer`s intentional adjustment of context recognition, the explanatory power of genre on writing can differ· The 2007 curricula specified types of conversation, thus providing the context in which such types of conversation are used· This is seen as a positive introduction of genre and context to writing· However, it was found that, in the process of applying these curricula, the original dynamic characteristics of context were not revealed, and that possible virtual individual situations were named as contexts in handling educational contents· Based on such problem consciousness, the method of setting the relation between genre and context when writing was examined· It was revealed that there was a difference over the focus of handling contexts in studies on linguistic approaches and rhetorical approaches to writhing from the perspective of genre, and over the method of explaining the process of writing by linking genre with context· It was found that since the context in linguistic approach is one of communication system components, its sub qualities could be extracted, and this could provide an easy status to transform text in language· Meanwhile, the interest in the context in the rhetorical approachlies in how much realistically the real world can be reflected· It was found that the genre here is not a sub-factor of context any longer, but serves as a frame to mediate in numerous variables about writing, such as context, the writer, target text, and the reader· This discussion provided significant implication in that, in explaining writing, it is not an approach with one side having superiority, but is two processes with different quality that pursues the dynamics of genre according to the writer`s ability or experience in using the approach·
