군 병사의 자기복잡성과 우울 간의 관계: 자기결정성의 매개효과

Abstract

본 연구에서는 자기개념의 구조적 측면인 자기복잡성뿐만 아니라 자기개념의 기능적 측면인 자기 결정성을 같이 고려할 때 심리적 건강을 더 잘 예측할 수 있을 것으로 가정하였다. 최근의 자기복잡성 연구들은 자기복잡성을 긍정·부정 자기복잡성으로 나누어서 자기복잡성의 스트레스 완충효과를 알아보고 있다. 본 연구에서도 자기복잡성을 긍정 자기복잡성과 부정 자기복잡성으로 나누어서 긍정·부정 자기복잡성과 우울 간의 관계를 자기결정성이 매개하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 육군 병사 263명을 대상으로 자기복잡성 척도, 자기결정성 척도, 우울 척도를 실시하고, 구조회귀모형 검증을 통하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 자기결정성은 부정복잡성과 우울의 관계를 부분 매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 긍정복잡성과 우울의 관계에서는 자기결정성이 억제변인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 부정적인 자기모습을 다양하게 가진 병사들을 상담할 때, 그들의 부정적인 자기모습을 감소시켜줄 뿐만 아니라 자신의 행동을 주체적으로 결정하는 능력을 키워주면 우울이 줄어들 수 있음을 시사해준다. 또한 긍정적인 자기모습을 다양하게 가진 병사들의 심리적 건강에는 먼저 자기결정 능력을 키워주는 것이 도움이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.This study hypothesized that psychological health among military soldiers would be better predicted when both self-complexity, a structural aspect of self-concept and self-determination, a functional aspect of self -concept are taken into account. Recent studies on self-complexity examined the stress buffering effect by dividing self-complexity into positive self-complexity and negative self-complexity. This study also distinguished between positive and negative self-complexities. For this purpose, this study administered self-complexity scale, self-determination scale and depression scale with 263 military soldiers, and analyzed the data through mediation model test with a structural regression model. The results showed that while self-determination mediates partially in the relationship between negative self-complexity and depression, it acts as an inhibitory variable in the relationship between positive self-complexity and depression. These findings suggest that when counseling with the soldiers with a variety of negative self-concepts, depression may be alleviated if their negative self-concept is reduced and the ability to determine their own behaviors is enhanced. In addition, to enhance psychological health of the soldiers with a variety of positive self-concepts, it would be helpful, above all, to enhance their ability to enhance self-determination.
