The purpose of this study is to provide theoretical and empirical evidence regarding possibility of adapting saccadic eye movement as tool to evaluate cognitive and motor development in children. Saccadic eye movement tasks can be designed to probe simple sensory-motor process as well as higher cognitive functions using different types of paradigm. Several studies deal with saccadic performance in children. The main findings of the investigation were that saccadic eye movement performance represents a sensitive indicator of maturation of the brain activity and motor development. However, to our knowledge, there are few studies to utilize saccadic eye movement to assess the cognitive and physical development in children. In this review paper, 1) the importance of saccadic eye movement in children, 2) age-related different parameter in saccade, 3) development of brain function related to saccade and finally, the future directions have been discussed.en_US
