대졸자의 첫 직장 임금에 영향을 미치는 개인과 대학특성 요인

Abstract

이 논문은 한국고용정보원의 2011 대졸자 직 업이동 경로조사 자료(2010 GOMS)와 ‘대학알 리미’ 사이트에 공시된 각 대학의 대학정보공 시자료를 활용하여, 대졸자의 첫 직장 임금에 영향을 미치는 개인과 대학수준의 요인을 탐 색하고자 하였다. 위계적 선형모형(hierarchical linear model, HLM)을 사용하여 분석한 결과, 개인수준의 요인 중에는 성별, 입학당시 부의 소득 같은 배경변인과 학점, 전공계열 및 어학 연수경험 같은 취업준비변인이 유의미한 영향 을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 대학수준 변인으 로는 대학유형, 소재지 같은 구조적 특성의 영 향력이 높게 나타난 반면, 대학의 교육여건이 나 재학생들의 만족도 같은 질적 특성들은 유 의미한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났 다. 이러한 분석결과는 대졸자들의 취업난이 가중되는 상황에서 노동시장성과를 높이기 위 한 개인들의 노력에는 한계가 있으며, 여성과 지방대학 졸업자들에 대한 불평등한 고용관행 과 사회적 인식이 개선되어야 한다는 것을 시 사한다. 이와 함께 대학에서 하는 경험이 노동 시장의 성과로 이어지도록 대학들은 실효성 있는 진로 및 취업지원 활동을 제공하여야 할 것이다.This study aims at inquiring into the individual and institutional factors which affect college graduates' wages at the first job. For this purpose, we analyzed panel data of 'Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (2010 GOMS)' and University Information Data posted by colleges and universities, using hierarchical linear modeling (HLM). This study revealed that gender, income, grade, employment experience, vocational training, language study abroad and major are having a significant influence at individual level and among others, influence of major and gender turned out to be higher. And among institutional level variables, college type, location, and employment rate affect the wage at the first job. However, qualitative characteristics of college did not show a significant influence. These results imply that individual background and structural characteristics of colleges are more influential than individual and institutional efforts, and suggest policy support to improve the structural inequality which influence college graduates' labor market outcomes is required.
