Abstract
This study was to suggest a creative directionality in different knit designs by analyzing the kidult characteristics shown in contemporary knit fashion design. 7 expression characteristics in kidult fashion design discovered in previous studies were drawn to set the criteria for analysis, and they were infantility, fantasy, unexpectedness, exaggeration, variability, simplicity, and mimicry. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, based on the characteristics criteria, the cases of knit designs that expressed the kidult characteristics in the Contemporary fashion design for the last 10 years is inadequate with only 289 cases. Among the kidult characteristics seen in knit fashion, infantility, fantasy, and mimicry frequently appeared, exaggeration was inadequate, and unexpectedness rarely appeared. Second, among the kidult characteristics seen in knit design, infantility appeared the most, which many are seen in Jeremy Scott or Moschino collections. In the simple of applying infantry, childish and fun designs using characters were seen. Tsumori Chisato frequently showed the fantasy characteristics. Third, in terms of the knit structure, machine knit was mostly used, and to express characters, intarsia knitting was used; therefore, more variety of techniques should be utilized.
