혼인이주여성의 상향이동 인식이 출산력에 미치는 영향

Abstract

이 연구의 주된 목적은 계층이동의 방향성과 사회경제적 특성에 따른 혼인이주여성의 출산력 편차를 확인하는 것이다. 이 논문에서는 소수집단 지위이론과 상대소득이론을 원용하여 계층이동의 방향성이 혼인이주여성의 출산수준에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설이 연역적으로 도출되었다. 이 논문은 혼인이주여성의 상향이동 인식이 사회경제적 특성들을 통제한 후에도 출산력에 정적인 영향력을 미치는가를 확인하는데 분석의 초점을 맞추었다. 그리고 혼인이주여성의 상향이동 인식에 영향을 미치는 사회경제적 특성들을 파악하는 작업도 이루어졌다. 분석의 대상은 『2009년 전국 다문화가족 실태조사』 자료에서 추출한 중국(조선족 및 한족), 베트남, 필리핀, 캄보디아 출신의 49세 이하 혼인이주여성들이었다. 분산분석과 회귀분석의 결과, 혼인이주를 통해 상향이동을 했다고 인식하는 여성일수록 자녀수가 많은 것으로 확인되었다. 아울러, 베트남, 필리핀, 캄보디아 출신의 여성들은 중국 여성에 비해 혼인이주를 통해 상향이동 하였다고 인식하는 경향이 강한 것으로 드러났다. 또한 경제수준은 높지만 교육수준이 낮고 농촌지역에 거주하는 혼인이주여성일수록 상향이동 인식이 높은 것으로 밝혀졌다.The main purpose is to explore the relationship between the direction of mobility in socioeconomic hierarchy and fertility among foreign wives in Korea. Direction of mobility and fertility hypothesis was drawn from the general frameworks of the minority group status theory and the relative income theory. Utilizing micro-data from the 2009 Korean National Multi-culture Family Survey, this paper examines whether foreign wives’ perception for upward mobility is associated with a higher level of fertility. The sample is composed of 34,859 foreign wives aged 20-49, and married to Korean men. Results show that foreign wives who perceive their marriage as upward mobility tend to have a greater number of children, regardless of socio-demographic variables. Foreign wives from Vietnam, Philippines and Cambodia are more likely to have perception of upward mobility compared to Chinese wives. Those who are less educated, have higher income, own their house, and live in rural areas are found to have higher perception of upward mobility.
