- Abstract
- Multi-axial compression tests have often been employed to studyrock or concrete fracture behaviors and failure processes underspecific conditions (e.g. different confining stress conditions) [1?6].The advantage of using multi-axial compression tests is the applicabilityof a complex stress history on a rock specimen in a constraintcondition.Multiaxialcompressionincludes biaxial, triaxial and truetriaxial compression conditions. True triaxial and biaxial compressiontests use actuators in the vertical and horizontal directions and loading platens are mounted on the end of the actuators. The loading platens produce a specific boundary condition of the specimen, and eventually influence the test results
