중국의 FTA교역효과에 대한 실증연구

Abstract

본 연구는 중국의 FTA발효로 인한 교역증진효과를 실증 분석하여 현재 협상 및 협상준비국과 FTA발효 이후 교역효과에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자한다. 패널자료를 이용한 기본중력모형이론을 바탕으로 DID(Different in Different)추정법을 통해 중국의 FTA발효국과 미발효국으로 효과집단과 통제집단을 구분하여 FTA발효 순수효과 도출을 시도한다. 중국의 상대 교역국에 대한 패널자료를 이용하여 패널 단위근 검정과 패널 공적분 검정을 통해 변수의 안정성을 검증한다. 대부분의 패널 변수는 안정적이며 패널 공적분 검정에서 종속변수인 교역량과 설명변수 간의 장기적인 근본적 관계가 있는 것으로 나타난다. 하우스만(Hausman)검정을 통하여 확률효과모형(Random Effect Model)보다 고정효과모형(Fixed Effect Model)의 추정계수가 적절함을 알 수 있다. 실증분석 결과에 따르면 첫째, 중국의 교역은 교역국 간의 실질GDP와 1인당GDP에 비례하고 거리에 반비례하는 기본 중력방정식 전제와 유사한 결과를나타내며, 둘째, 중국의 고유한 특성을 통제하기 위해 추가한 환율 변수는 유의적인 음(-)의 계수로 추정되어 중국의 전체 교역에서 수출 교역비중이 더 높고 계수값 크기로 보아 환율의 영향에 민감하다는 것을 알 수 있으며, 셋째, DID추정 결과 중국과 FTA발효국이 미발효국에 비해 교역증진 효과가 있는 것으로 나타난다. 결론적으로 DID추정을 통한 FTA발효효과변수의 계수값이 유의적인 양의 계수가 나타난다는 것은 앞으로 중국과의 FTA체결을 준비 중인 국가들과 FTA발효 이후의 교역증진 효과에 대한 긍정적인 전망을 제시한다.This paper shows the trade promoting effects of China FTA through panel gravity model and DID(Different in Different) estimator. The model was estimated for aggregate exports and imports using an annual panel data set covering 39 countries from 1995 through 2012. According to the results of the empirical analysis, first of all, the result shows China trade similar to the basic gravity equation with the trading partners. Secondly, to control the specific characteristics of the Chinese, we add exchange rate variable, which has a negatively significant impact on China trade. It reflects the ratio of export is higher than import in the total trade volumes. And the exchange rate is sensitive to the China trade. Thirdly, as a result of the DID estimator, there is an enhancing effect on the trade volumes when we compare the conclusion of the FTA to the preparing the FTA signed with China. Therefore, the positive significance on the conclusion of the FTA through the DID estimator present a positive outlook of the trade effects on the preparing the FTA signed with China.
