Atlantoaxial Ankylosis Detected on Neck CT Scans in a Patient with ankylosing spondylitis

Abstract

강직성척추염은 주로 축골격을 침범하는 원인 미상의 만성 염증성 질환이다. 경추 또한 침범될 수 있는 부위로 특징적인 소견은 환추축 아탈구이다. 그러나 환추축 관절강직의 예는 거의 보고된 바가 없다. 저자들은 경부 전산화단층촬영에서 우연히 발견된 강직성척추염 환자의 환추축 관절강직의 영상 소견을 증례 보고하고자 한다.Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown cause that principally affects the axial skeleton. The cervical spine is also vulnerable to this disease process and the characteristic feature of cervical involvement is atlantoaxial subluxation. However, only a few cases of atlantoaxial ankylosis have been reported to date. We report a case of atlantoaxial ankylosis in a patient with ankylosing spondylitis with radiologic findings incidentally detected on neck CT scans.
