해방기 환멸의 정조와 상상적 탈주-정비석의 해방기 소설을 중심으로

Abstract

본고는 정비석의 해방기 단편소설을 대상으로 주체의 존재 방식을 고찰하였다. 주체는 현실을 환멸의 정조로 관조하면서, 양심을 수호하고 존재의 이상을 실현하기 위한 탈주를 시도한다. 주체의 탈주 욕망은 현실세계에 직접 개입하여 개혁하는 방향이 아니라, 시적 세계의 내면을 확장하거나 소외와 분열을 극복한 조화로운 인간상을 구현할 수 있는 네이션을 상상하는 방향으로 재현된다. 이때 시적세계로의 확장은 이성과의 만남으로 구체화되고, 주체는 환멸의 세계와 시적 세계의 경계를 오가면서 생명력을 회복한다. 특히 소녀와의 만남은 환멸의 세계 속에 존재하는 실존의 부정과 훼손되지 않는 존재로의 낭만적인 퇴행 욕망과 관련 있다. 이 만남을 통해 주체는 환멸의 세계로부터 벗어나 내적 만족감을 충족하고 그 만족감을 미적인 것으로 충일한 낭만적 공간을 마련한다. 그러나 주체의 양심이 현실에서 파멸할 수밖에 없다는 절망적 통찰이 전제되어 있다는 근본적인 한계를 지닌다. 이런 절망적 통찰은 주체의 양심을 실현할 수 있는 세계, 즉 네이션을 상상하는 동력이 된다. 상상된 네이션은 민족의 정체성을 국가의 정체성과 일치시키는 근대적 공간이다. 이는 주체가 환멸의 세계를 정복하고 양심의 소리에 귀 기울이는 존재 물음의 과정이자 그것을 상상적으로 재구조화한 결과물이다. 주체는 개개의 과오를 상상된 네이션 속에 용해해 버리고, 국민으로 창출할 준비를 한다. 정비석이 국민국가를 상상하는 방식이 균질적인 국민의 창출과, 그 핵심을 민족이라는 혈통 중심적 사고에 두고 있기 때문이다. 그러나 정비석의 해방기 소설은 환멸로부터 상상적 탈주를 시도하지만, 그 탈주가 현실을 변화시키는 실제적인 힘으로 작동하지 못한다는 점이 문제로 남는다. This study considered the being method of the subject on Cheong Bi-seok’s short story during the liberation. The subject contemplated the reality as the Feelings of disillusionment, trying to escape for protecting conscience and realizing an idea of existence. The desire of the subject for an escape was reenacted towards the imagination of a nation where can be realized a harmonious human character that extends the poetical inner world, or overcoming the fringes and the division. At that time, the extension around the globe was realized by touching reason, and the subject recovered vitality as coming and going the border between the disillusive world and the poetical world. Especially, to meet with a girl is related with a romantic regressive desire for the subject who denies an existence in the disillusive world and then being an existence who can be damaged. With this meeting, the subject met the inner satisfaction and prepared a romantic space where is full with the aesthetic things out of the disillusive world. However, it implies the fundamental limitation to have the premise of a hopeless insight that the conscience of the subject has to be destroyed in reality. This hopeless insight derives a power to image a nation that can be realized the conscience of the subject. This imaged nation is modern space where fits ethnic identity with national identity. This is the course of questions to an existence in which the subject conquers the disillusive world and hears of the conscience, and then being the result that restructured it imaginatively. The subject liquefied the individual error into the imaged nation, and preparing to be driven as nation, because the way that Cheong Bi-seok images a nation-state is focused on the blood-oriented thought for creating homogeneous nation and it’s essential.On the other hand, Cheong Bi-seok’s novel during the liberation tried to escape imaginatively from the disillusionment, but it gives a problem that the escape couldn’t be worked as an actual power to change reality.
